The presentation of tourist potential of Turkmenistan in Tokyo


The Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA) and the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Japan organized a conference and presentation of tourist potential of Turkmenistan in Tokyo. The forum brought together top managers of more than 40 Japanese companies, representatives of the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Tourism, state and private tourist enterprises of our country.

During the forum, the members of the Turkmen delegation presented their reports on the measures taken to develop the tourism infrastructure in Turkmenistan, and Japanese businessmen shared their views on cooperation in the tourist industry. Among the guests to the conference were Japanese scientists and specialists, who told to their compatriots about our country emphasizing the cultural heritage, traditions, and customs of the Turkmen people.

Representatives of Japanese travel agencies were familiarized with the routes for cultural, historical, ecological, and sports tourism and expressed belief that the presentation would promote developing and organizing travels to our country, increasing the number of those wishing to vista such historical cities as Merv, Kunya Urgench, Nisa, and, of course, white-marble Ashgabat, which is well known for its architectural sights.

Moreover, the members of the Turkmen delegation held bilateral meetings with the heads of sectoral structures in Japan. The issues of further development of relations in the sphere of tourism between the two countries were discussed during the meeting with the representative of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan. Specific steps on organization of trips to Turkmenistan for travelers from Japan were considered during the meeting with the Head of the MIKI Tourist Agency.

Our representatives also met with the Head of the JTB Company, a largest state travel agent in Japan, as well as the President of the Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA), who underlined the participation of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in the last year JATA exposition had attached the high status of our country’s participation in this forum. He also mentioned that this fact aroused keen interest in our country among travel agents in Japan, who considered Turkmenistan as a very promising and interesting area.

JATA members were invited to take part in the International tourist forum to be held in the Avaza National tourist zone in September, and Japan representatives invited the delegates fro Turkmenistan to visit JATA Tourism EXPO Japan in Tokyo this fall.

The agenda of the meeting with the Foresight advertising company in Japan focused on popularization of tourist potential of Turkmenistan, and promotion of our tourist products in Japan.

The ways of further development of cooperation in the sphere of tourism were discussed with representatives of a number of Japanese companies. Experts of the tourist business in Japan expressed particular interest in the potential and prospects for development of the Turkmen national tourist industry, and suggested a wide range of ideas for cooperation between Turkmenistan and Japan.
